"For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands." Isaiah 55:12

"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water'". John 7:37,38

TREE BARK

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

Bark is a magnificent form of protection. As the tree expands, the bark around it expands. Each year some cambian layer cells die and become part of the bark, while the rest become part of the wood of the tree. Most trees have corky bark which divide as the tree expands. Each species has its own characteristics. Giant Sequoia has at times bark two feet thick. The chemicals in the Giant Sequoia bark ensure that it is fireproof and rot proof.

The bark of a tree is its shield against the invading life of nature. Without bark the cambian layer, which it protects, would dry up causing the tree to die. It is the cambian layer which allows the tree to move materials up and down the bowl of the tree to continue the life process, much like blood vessels and arteries in our bodies.

As bark is to a tree, so is faith to our spirit. Faith is a shield against the forces that try to attack us and cause us to lose sight of our precious Lord. Ephesians 6:16 says that faith is a shield that extinguishes the firey darts of the evil one. Bark never loses contact with the cambian layer, which is the life source of the tree. So too, our faith should not lose touch with the life source of our spirit, which is the Lord Jesus. For in Him we live and move and have our being. Acts 17:28

The life of the tree is threatened if its bark is broken or torn off. The bark may grow back to cover and protect the wounded area. It is the same with us, if we are hurt and allow God's faith to grow within us, our spirit will be healed.

Look to God to allow your faith to grow and protect your soul and spirit. A tree without bark is wide open for destruction and a Christian that is not strong in faith is a disaster that is waiting to happen.
