"The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit". John 3:8 |

This brought to mind that Christians sometimes prefer one kind of Scripture over another. There are different types of Christians and they have a desire to read and follow different parts of the Scriptures. This can be both good and bad.
Some parts of the Bible are harder to get something out of than others. The genealogy is one of these. I once listened to a tape of a preacher that was having trouble sleeping so he decided to read the genealogy to put himself to sleep. While he was reading he saw a lesson about Methusalah and prepared a sermon from it and stayed up most of the night studying.
Other Christians like to focus on the blessings that we are entitled to and how to get those blessings. To be a healthy Christian we need to have a diet of the word that provides a full assortment of Bible truths that will build up our Spirit and allow God to speak to us as His Spirit leads. The Bible is not just a collection of ideas or promises. It is living and active and will show us the way of the spirit if we are united to Christ.
If we are united to Christ we will have a healthy aptitude for the word of God. To love God is to keep His commandments and we should read the word to know the commandments to keep.
We should not ignore our aptitude. If we are hungry for one type of reading read in that area. But always take some from the other parts of the Bible as well.
