"The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit". John 3:8 |

The Cotton Wood tree's leaf pediole is such that any slight breeze will cause the leaf to flutter, because it is made thinner than normal.
This brought to mind the concept that the Holy Spirit is not the rude task master but is gentle. If we are quiet and sensitive we can hear Him. If we are busy with the many things of the day we may miss God.
When Elijah heard the sound of the gentle breeze, he knew it was God. He wrapped himself in his mantle and went to the entrance of the cave to hear God.
The Holy Spirit is contrasted with might and power. "... not by might not by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts." (Zech. 4:6)
Strength comes by waiting. "He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youth grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary." (Isaiah 40:29-31)
"Cease striving and know that I am God; ..." (Psalm 46:10) Keep watch for God to speak. (Hab. 2:1) Be ready when He does speak. Spiritual success relies on our sensitivity to God. ". . .in quietness and trust is your strength ..." (Isaiah 30:15)
