But how do you believe? You can accept the Bible as being true but what do you do when there is doubt? How do you eradicate doubt to protect your heart from being troubled? You believe but you also have unbelief.
". . . If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water." (John 7:37,38) To believe is to drink from Jesus and to have drunk so much of His word and to meditate on it that when Satan tries to trouble our heart we resist him the same way Jesus did by quoting the word. We would be able to do this because we have spent so much time with it.

Take time to believe Jesus' words. |
Believing entails meditating on the God's word waiting trusting God to come through for you in what He has promised. Belief in Jesus allows us to spend time with Him. To rest in the promise of His word and listen to the still small voice that guides our steps. Belief can wait, trusting God to direct.
King David waited for God to give him the kingdom after it was promised to him. He did not take it by force because God had promised to give it to him. David did not lift his hand against the Lord's anointed.
In the process of waiting there is doubt and discouragement. What gives us the staying power? Our trust in Jesus will overcome doubt as we have a relationship with Him and experience His love. Second the life creating action of the word of God. God's word is not just history or ideas that were written down years ago. They give life today as we hear them by the Spirit.
Col. 3:16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you.Richly abide in the word of God's grace and trust Him for life giving strength. Fight doubt by the precious word of God, belief will flow from our inner being. Look to Jesus and not our circumstances or the threat of disaster.
Rom. 10:17 Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
Acts 20:32 "And now I commend you to 'God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified."
Thank you Jesus, for I live not by my might or by the many physical comforts but by your every word that you speak. Matthew 4:4
