Poison ivy was growing among the vines and making its way up some of the trees. Oil excreted from all parts of the plant produces intense skin irritation. Blisters and severe itching result. Poison ivy is prolific in shady places and is hard to eradicate. The vine grows along the ground and sends shoots up from the roots. Birds eat the fruit and their droppings also help spread the plant.
The plant's rash may be deceptive. Some people are not allergic to the oil that the plant produces. I am like that. I used to get it when I was a kid but now I never get it. But the literature I have been reading says some people can be immune from the poisonous oil coming from the plant for a while and later the immunity will disappear.
The plant can be identified by the three leaves. Its fruit has white light green berries that grow in a bunch at the base of the leaves. The plant usually grows along the ground but it will crawl up and may take the form of a shrub.
Poison ivy is like sin. Just a touch of any part of the plant can produce an irritation to your skin. Sin will infect you with a touch also. Just as the best solution is to stay away from poison ivy so it is best to leave sin alone completely.
The spread of sin is like poison ivy also. It spreads everywhere and will get into other parts of your garden or yard.
Sin is like poison ivy. Some people seem to get by without any cost to their sin. But God is not mocked for whatever a man sows that he will also reap. Sin will catch up with them later in life.
Flee sin and resist the devil and draw near to God.
